Don’t tell anyone…

It would appear we might have accidentally made a single copy of this file for critical review and debate. Full story can be found here, here and here. There are also other posts and updates on MMR here.

EDIT

If you wish to make some form of complaint to OFCOM under the broadcasting code, specifically the section quoted below then you can do so here.

Presenters and reporters (with the exception of news presenters and reporters in news programmes), presenters of “personal view” or “authored” programmes or items, and chairs of discussion programmes may express their own views on matters of political or industrial controversy or matters relating to current public policy. However, alternative viewpoints must be adequately represented either in the programme, or in a series of programmes taken as a whole. Additionally, presenters must not use the advantage of regular appearances to promote their views in a way that compromises the requirement for due impartiality. Presenter phone-ins must encourage and must not exclude alternative views.

You are absolutely right to point out an option to complain to Ofcom – I have taken advantage of this myself. Hopefully enough noise at Ofcom’s end will see some change in her style, or at the very least some more publicity to the MMR issue.

I would recommend anyone who makes a complaint to use the strongest language possible – complaints that actually sound like a action for tort are incredibly hard to ignore. Ofcom is a public body and this MMR call in pretty much told people not to immunise their children against infectious disease, there’s huge public safety and health risks in that.

I don’t think Barnett is actually going to cause a measles epidemic with her 1 to 4pm radio show but I’ll complain to Ofcom to get her to apologise on air just in case.

I’ve also complained to OfCom, but I think I got the broadcast date wrong. D’OH.

How naughty to keep a file of the broadcast. I can hear the legal bullies knocking on your internet :)
